I love taking a simple illustration and building a whole world around it. An ant, a door, a steamy loaf of bread, and suddenly there’s a spa, there’s gossip, and there’s Gerald...
One of my favourite picture books from childhood was a CMYK book, where pages in different colours layered to create new shapes. It made me realise the power and endless possibilities of a book.
I love creating little stories within the story…
My dream is to write and illustrate a book that encourages children to dream and believe in the power of magic.
My strongest sense is smell, and since illustration can’t capture that, I try to use lots of textures and juicy marks
to add depth to my work.
